SKY BLUES REPORT NO 1
The Ricoh Arena has seen a busy week after Coventry City´s application to join the new Skybet League Two was accepted then the club appointed "Rafa" Benitez as their new manager to lead them in the campaign in the new season. Players are still away in the Algarve, Portugal training hard and working with the new manager ready for the opening day of the season on Monday night with a home match against Leeds United.
The club have laid our their plans for the season which is to avoid relegation and stay in the Skybet League Two, fans are excited about the season ahead and the direction the club is making to get back into the top league in English Football for the first time since they were relegated in 2001. The club have a fairly young squad and will look to develop their younger players and with the recent acquisition of Yakubu everyone is buzzing at the club. The 34 year old Nigerian agreed to join the club and brings a wealth of experience and goals after scoring 29 goals in 65 games for Portsmouth in the top flight, 25 goals in 73 games for Middlesborough and 25 goals in 82 games for Everton. The "Yak" will be looking to bang in the goals for the Sky Blues and has Marcus Tudgay to back him up who has experience with Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Derby County.
In the next issue we hope to report more the manager "Rafa" and any club developments.

SKY BLUES CHASING
Coventry City manager "Rafa" Benitez has been busy this week chasing players as he looks to build a strong squad capable of winning promotion to the Skybet League One next season. The club are chasing Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy who is seen as a good partner for Yakubu, which suggests that the manager may have plans for a shake up in formation, but he will face stiff competition from Southampton, Borussia Dortmund for Vardy´s signature. The club are looking to strengthen the defense and midfield, at the back after signing Kieron Gibbs on loan from Arsenal the club signed Ignacio Abate from AC Milan. "Rafa" is currently tracking several midfielders and defenders and were hoping to bring any news on signings as we receive it.
The club have submitted proposals for building new facilities at the Ricoh Arena showing their intent to really develop the club and build for the future.

SKY HIGH
Life seems good at Coventry City and manager "Rafa" Benitez seem to be enjoying the football and management of the club, the club beat Crystal Palace 2-0 last night in the FA Cup 1st round with a good solid performance. Defensively the team were tight and new signings Ignazio Abate and Juanfran both settled in well and working well with the team, Abate was sent off but played really well. The club welcomed new midfielder J Hogg last night and should be a good signing for the Sky Blues challenge for promotion, the FA Cup draw was made this morning and Coventry have a home tie against West Ham in Round 2. Manager "Rafa" has clearly indicated he would love to lead Coventry out at Wembley and lift the FA Cup, around the Ricoh Arena their is much building work going on with the club announcing they have just spent £11 million on upgrading facilities, building a training ground, Academy and improving overall business opportunities.
Things are looking could at the Ricoh and fans are excited about the way the club is moving and plans of the Board and manager.

SKY BLUES AIMING HIGH
Coventry City fans are dreaming of trips to Old Trafford and Anfield next season, were into the second half of the season and the Sky Blues sit top of the Skybet League two table 1 point clear of Portsmouth. With only 1 defeat in their last 6 league matches Coventry are playing good football and leading the way, manager "Rafa" Benitez says "We are in a good position and if we continue to play our football this club will win promotion."
The sigining of Vydra has been a masterpiece with the striker scoring 4 goals in 6 appearances, he has linked well with Yakubu and young sensation G Thomas. The midfield trio of Schweinsteiger, Hogg and Gadzhev have been key to Coventry´s play with their passing skills and attacking play and the rewards are paying dividend, and the Sky Blues have the second best defense in the division. The club are working hard developing their Academy status to attract top youth talent and develop their into 1st team players, the manager has clearly got the view that bringing through good youngsters is the way forward for the club. Tonight the Sky Blues will look to hit the goal trail against bottom and winless Leeds United, and if results go their way between Newcastle and Portsmouth, Coventry could be taking a big step towards Skybet League One next season.

COVENTRY CITY MOVE TO STRENGTHEN
With 10 games to go in the Skybet League Two season and the Sky Blues top of the table, manager "Rafa" Benitez has moved to strengthen his squad. The club helds talks with former Stoke City defender R Shotton who has agreed to join the club in a £10 million deal, and former Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury who has also agreed to join the club for a fee of £10 million. Both players have plenty of experience and will boost the Sky Blues chances of winning promotion, the manager seems very happy with his strikeforce. Yakubu has scored 6 goals, young striker G thomas has scored 5 goals and Vydra in great form with 5 goals in 8 matches. Fans and many in the media belief that the Sky Blues will be winning promotion and ahead of both Newcastle and Portsmouth.

COVENTRY BOSS BUCKLES
Another poor night for Coventry City and the fans with a 4-1 thumping by second bottom Huddersfield Town, fans booed the players off the pitch last night and the club now lost 4 games in their last 6 matches which has derailed any chances of promotion from Skybet League Two. Manager "Rafa" Benitez has resigned from the club this morning, stating:-
"I would like to thank for the fans for their support, things have not gone well over last few weeks and I feel I have done everything I can with these players. Today I have resigned from the club, I need a new start and new challenge. Good luck to the club for the future."
